I am interested in the ways in which we perceive ourselves and the reactions that occur when we view ourselves through the “eyes of the ego.” I consider the ego the part of ourselves that continually makes us “better than” or “worse than” others, but never equally valuable and unique. This work stems from the following questions: In which ways do we compare ourselves to others? How does one respond to a compliment? Can you ever fully act as your true self? What is one’s reaction to attention--do you shy away? Shine? Feign modesty? Are we aware of our masquerading self?
